Common Thread CSA
The Shaw Wellness Institute and the Office of Sustainability have been working with Common Thread to host an on-campus CSA pickup location this fall. Starting in September, ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ community members with Common Thread shares will be able to pick up locally grown produce weekly or biweekly right on campus at the Shaw Wellness Institute at 113 Broad St. Common Thread CSA, a family farm just down the road in Madison, organically grows a wide variety of vegetables, including tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, spinach, winter squash, potatoes, carrots, onions, kale, broccoli, herbs, and much more. They will be delivering customizable boxes of vegetables to campus weekly on Thursday afternoons from the beginning of September through the end of October. Standard shares average about $33/week and small shares $19/week. Payment plans and subsidized shares are available. CSA members also have access to pick your own crops at the farm, such as flowers, cherry tomatoes, herbs, green beans, and hot peppers and will receive weekly e-newsletters from the farm with farm updates and recipe ideas. More information and sign ups at www.commonthreadcsa.com or 315-882-0086. Please register by August 15.
